 Esteemed Japanese landscape designer and author Dr. David Slawson will facilitate a viewing and discussion of his latest film, a visually compelling, meditative journey through key aspects of this universal landscape art form. The film is followed by lecture & presentation of David’s own gardens, illustrating how basic design principles can be adapted to a wide variety of sites, locally available natural materials, and client desires providing in-depth insight into the Japanese Garden design process.
Dr. David Slawson is one of America's most highly regarded landscape artists trained in the Japanese Garden tradition with 40 years of design experience. His career began with landscape creations for the Cleveland Botanical Garden (1974). His gardens at Carleton College and Garvan Woodland Gardens have been voted in the top ten Japanese-style gardens in America by Sukiya Living magazine.
David Slawson’s DVD and book “Secret Teachings in the Art of Japanese Gardens” will be available for purchase and signing.
